4th annual vigil for Sandy Hook and victims of gun violence

Dear Friends,

I am honored to be invited to join this Wednesday evening  with members of the U.U. church in Brunswick, Maine for their 4th annual vigil for Sandy Hook and all victims of gun violence in 2015. Gathering together in community and sharing our hearts, songs and hope can be so healing in difficult times.

in peace and solidarity,

Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick (UUCB)
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick will hold a vigil on this fourth anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, commemorating those who died on that sad day and the 120,000 American victims of gun violence since December 2012. This year we are offering “Music in Memoriam” featuring members of the UUCB church and choir, and Maine singer/songwriter Lynn Deeves. Two videos will be shown of the faces of those who have died at Sandy Hook and in 2015 by gun violence. The vigil will be part of a nationwide tribute in partnership with the Newtown Action Alliance & the Newtown Foundation and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. We will offer a special recognition to members of Maine Moms Demand Action and Mainers for Responsible Gun Ownership. We will renew our promise to continue the work to #EndGunViolence.

We the People Rise Up Singing…

Dear Friends,

Although I’ve experienced feelings of disbelief and sadness following the recent elections, I am bolstered by the many supportive and kind people in the world! I invite you to water seeds of happiness and hope in yourselves and in each other…practice a random act of kindness, help someone in need, speak out,  listen more deeply, smile at a stranger…and learn to trust in the “ripple” effect of any small (or large) act that you can offer to the world in your neighborhood…

I’ve been invited to offer a song and a chant at an InterFaith Service of Unity, Hope and Healing at the U.U.C.C. at 69 Winthrop Street in Augusta, Maine from 7-8 pm on Tuesday, 11.15.16. There will be inspiring songs and readings  from many walks of faith…all are welcome.

  in peace and strength,
